Intro to Woodturning

Posted on

The lathe is a wonderful tool. It’s simple mechanically, just a motor, a pulley, and a chuck to hold the wood. Shaping the piece requires a sharp tool and a steady grip. Woodturning is a lot of fun and can make a large variety of things from chair spindles, bowls, and even large things like canes and bats.

In this class, Todd Gallant will share with you the joy of woodturning and get you on the path to making simple spindle shapes. Topics covered will be basic safety and setup as well as the various shaping tools. The project for this one is going to be a handle for an ice cream scoop using ornate wood.

This is a private class for 1 attendee

Attendee should bring safety glasses and appropriate work clothing. No loose sleeves, clothes, jewelry, or hair.

Cost for the class is $85, which includes the $15 for materials and $15 for a daypass membership

Current members only pay $60

Ages 18 and up
