What is Arduino?
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform aimed at making it easy for a beginner to create the projects they want to make. Arduino boards can read inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board.
This class will introduce you to everything that is on the Arduino board, the software that you use to program it, and where you can go to find more information as you are ready to move beyond the basics! We will be using the Adafruit Metro, an Arduino-compatible board based off of the Arduino Uno.
You will leave class with a small robot that you will have programmed yourself. From there, you can continue to use the skills you learned in class to add further functionality to your robot.
Instructor: Tanya Hakala
Tanya is a long-time electronics hobbyist and has used Arduino and Raspberry Pi for several projects.
Cost of ticket includes materials: microcontroller, two servos, a small electronics kit, and a 3D printed robot chassis.
