March 1, 2018 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Learn how to use the best prototyping tool next to the 3D printer: the Laser Cutter!
In this class we will cover the operation of our 30 watt CO2 laser cutter and how to design and prepare files for cutting. Our software is VCarve Pro for preparing designs for cutting, which you can download a trial of on their website here to try and get a feel for it.
We will make a beginer project, name placards out of 1/4″ plywood.
These are the kinds of things our laser can cut:
- ¼” plywood and other thing woods
- Clear and colored acrylics
- Cardstock and paper
- EVA Foam
- Non-PVC plastics
These are what it can engrave:
- All of the above
- Cases for phones or laptops
- Glass (coated)
- Rubber (special type for laser engraving)
- Black-painted metals
