=Guides and Manuals=

===Resin Printer===
# Prepare files using ChituBox
# Load file onto USB drive
# Turn on machine
# ?
# Clean screen?
# Put on gloves?
# Load resin into machine
# Ensure NOTHING ELSE is in the chamber, like solid objects. The LCD screen may be cracked when the platform comes down if any foreign objects are in there when printing.
# Use interface to select print

===Washing Station===
# Do not drop the part into the bucket without a bucket or support. Uncured resin can stick to the sides or the stirring mechanism and ruin it.
# Put on gloves.
# Remove platform from printer?
# Submerge in alcohol (already in the container)?
## If alcohol is significantly cloudy, change it out or filter it?
# Turn on stirrer and let it sit for an hour?
# Check on part to see if it needs further cleaning?

After 30 washes, the container should be cleaned.
# Let the container sit long enough for any solids to fall to the bottom.
# Transfer the alcohol slowly to a bottle, using a filter and funnel
# Scrape out resin solids using plastic scraper and place on cardboard or something disposable
# Set the resin outside to cure for 1 hour in direct sunlight
# Replace the wash bin and refill with alcohol

===Curing Station===
# Make sure parts are fully dry before using this machine.
# Set to cure for X hours?
# Check to see if part needs more curing?

===Handling and Storing Resin===
# Resin is toxic.
# Wear gloves.
# Use ventilation.
# Uncured resin should be stored in original container. Transfer unused resin from printer to bottle using the filters. This will keep any partially cured solids out of the bottled resin.
# Use alcohol to clean up spilled resin immediately.

=General Tips and Safety=
*Requires a safety checkout or class before using
*Wear gloves when handling resin containers
*Clean up spills or messes immediately using isopropyl.
*Resins should be stored in the opaque, UV-resistant bottles they came in.
*Resin is fully cured only after adequate exposure in a UV-curing unit. Only after being fully cured do the parts no longer require protective gloves to handle.
=General Tips and Safety=

===Safety===
#'''Always treat the soldering iron like it is hot.''' You can't tell just by looking at it how hot it is, so to be safe don't touch the hot end of the iron or set it on anything other than the holder.
#'''Use ventilation for fumes.''' The flux will smoke and burn off, and it will sting if it gets in your eyes.
#'''Be careful of the power cord.''' You don't want to melt the power cord to your iron. Position it so it won't be in your way when trying to solder.

===Tips===
#Use the SIDE of the soldering iron tip, NOT the POINT. The point has very little area with which to heat up the parts you are soldering, but the side of it is large in comparison and can heat up your wires and pins much better.
#Make sure you're applying enough heat. If solder is taking too long to melt (more than a second or two), you need to change something. Either your iron isn't hot enough, the iron isn't clean, you need to apply flux.
#Heat the parts you are soldering evenly. If one part is hotter than the other, the solder will be drawn to that one and not the colder one.
#Avoid heating up the circuit board or parts for more than 10 seconds. Give both time to cool down. Overheated parts may stop working right, and overheated boards may start peeling apart.
[[File:rikonbandsawgreen.jpg|400px|thumb|Rikon 10-325 with a small blade]]

We have two Rikon bandsaws.

The Blue one is a 10-326. It is equipped with a large blade, typically 5/8", and intended for making straight cuts.

The Green one is a 10-325. It is equipped with a small blade, typically 1/4", and is able to do straight or curved cuts.

Details on both Rikon bandsaws:
*Blade length: 111"
*Blade width: 3/16” - 3/4” (4.78 - 19 mm)
*Maximum Cutting Width (throat): 13-5/8” (346 mm)
*Maximum Cutting Depth (height): 13” (330 mm)

=Use and Cleanup=
#Use the right blade for your job. A thicker blade (1/2" or larger) is best for straight cuts in thick material. A thinner blade (around 1/4" or smaller) is better for curved cuts in thin material.
#Adjust the blade guard to slightly above the material you will be cutting.
#Clean up when you are done. Use a handbroom or vacuum to clean the table, underneath the table, and the lower compartment where dust really collects.
#Lower the blade guard when you are done. This is for safety - less exposed blade means less risk to people in the shop.
[[File:Woodshop2.jpg|400px|thumb|Wood Shop 2]]

==Summary==

The wood shop at Port City Makerspace has everything that an aspiring wood worker could hope for, and many old friends of the seasoned carpenter. Shop tools include a professional grade table saw, bandsaw, compound miter saw, a 15″ planer, a 8″ x 75″ jointer, drum sanders, and a full complement of hand tools. There is truly too much to list. It’s best to come by the shop and see for yourself!

==Wood Shop User Guide==
This is a list of rules and advice for using the wood shop.

#'''Vacuum!''':
##Vacuum up IMMEDIATELY after doing something. Clean as you go. Don't leave a bunch of messes to clean up later, or you will wind up missing messes that others will have to clean up.
##Check the vac to see if it is full. Empty it into a regular trash can if it is. Watch out for the dust plume.
#'''When using sanders:'''
##Wear a dust mask
##Use any available vacuum attachment on the machine or tool
##Vacuum up the surrounding area afterwards. Remember that dust is light and travels far.
#'''Be aware of your surroundings:'''
##Don't know where something should go? Put it back where you found it, or ask a fellow member.
##Please warn others near you before doing something noisy or messy.
##If you're not sure what you're doing, talk to someone or google it.
##DO NOT USE any power tool you have not gotten checked out on. DO NOT assume you know how to safely use something you've barely used.
##If the blade on a tool seems difficult to use, it is probably dull and needs to be sharpened/replaced. Notify the manager or shop volunteer.
#'''Do not do any of the following to or on the power tools:'''
##Cut reclaimed wood without asking the manager or shop volunteer. We don't want nails or staples destroying our machines.
##Leave things on them. We have tables and workbenches for working on, so please leave the power tools accessible for others to use.
##Hammer or do aggressive work on them. There are workbenches for that.
##Get glue on them. There are workbenches for that.
##Get water on them or set drinks on them. The metal surface will rust and someone will have to clean it or fix it if it's bad enough.
##Push them to their limits. We don't have a "Tool Replacement Budget", so don't break our only tools.
##Break something and then not tell anybody. If the next person that walks up to it doesn't know its broken, it can cause them to get hurt when they try to use it. Leave a note, tell the manager
#'''Good rules of thumb: '''
##'''Blades:''' inspect before using. Shared blades get used heavily. If you need sharp blades for quality work, you should bring your own.
##'''Sandpaper (for hand-sanding)''': Use what we have available, donate money towards restocking.
##'''Sandpaper (for big power tools):''' Keep it clean, use rubber erasers. If you ruin it, replace it.
##'''Dust:''' Any dust should be contained and controlled as best as possible. Use vac attachment when possible.
##'''Locks and Guards:''' Loosen locks before adjusting things like the drill press table, bandsaw guide, and table saw height/angle. Remember to tighten them before operating the tool.
##'''Inspect your tools:''' There are many users of the shop with varying skill levels and habits. Make sure the tool you are going to use is safe, it is at the angle you need, the blade is sharp, and it isn’t full of sawdust.
##'''Always be learning:''' Understand how to get a good result. Typically it's 70% setup, and 30% skill. Read the manual, watch a video, ask for help.
##'''Work safe:''' Work slow and carefully. Most accidents happen when people rush. Schedule your time in the shop wisely.
