This is a running list of big projects being done for the makerspace. These include shop-improvement projects, collaborations, etc.

Want to get involved? Contact someone listed as an organizer or point of contact for the project, or contact the General Manager for details on how to get involved.

Active Projects[edit]

Ongoing projects that are being worked on regularly or new projects that could use some help. If there is no organizer listed, it's open for anyone to volunteer to take on the project. If no details are available you can ask the shop manager.

Holiday Raffle Collection[edit]

  • Organizer: Brigitte Gray
  • Details: Collecting raffle prizes for an end-of-the-year fundraiser. Any small hand-made things that might make for a nice gift or prize are welcome. There is a bin on a shelf in the project storage area labelled "Holiday Raffle Prizes" that you can put your items in. Make sure to let someone know or add a note to the item saying who it came from and what it is!

Wood Shop Improvements[edit]

  • Organizer: Jeff Halldorson
  • Details: Making the Wood Shop a safer, better place to work for members. So far improvements have involved added work surfaces, new policies, and delegating tasks needed to be done for the shop to continue working well.

RFID System[edit]

  • Details: This is a project to build and set up an RFID access system for the space

Maker Village buildout[edit]

  • Details: The creation of an in-demand rented workspace area with more finished walls and lighting. For light-duty work and cleanspace.

LED Sign[edit]

  • Details: Hacking some bus signs to make them programmable via arduino or other means.

Hanging new security cameras[edit]

Set up small general use PC in Classroom on a mobile cart[edit]

  • Details: Have a computer in the Classroom. Fills the need for a shared-use computer in a room other than the Electronics Lab.

Drone Chain Project[edit]

  • Details: A inter-makerspace self-flying plane project. The goal is to have a programmed UAV fly from one makerspace to another nearby one.

Automatic Dust Collection[edit]

  • Details: A system to turn on the dust collector in the wood shop any time one of the dust gates opens to a tool.
