A Resource Manager is a role in our Volunteer Program

Resource Managers are responsible for a specific tool or resource in the shop. They check up on it at least a few times a month, are available to do safety checkouts, maintain or facilitate maintenance on it depending on a schedule provided, and post information up regarding new or important things about the tool.

Getting Started

Hello!

Thank you for volunteering to take on the care and upkeep of one of the wood shop tools. It's a great way to help the wood shop, and the commitment can be as little as one hour a month. For this type of volunteering, we actually have a title already established called a Resource Manager.

Resource Managers are responsible for a specific tool or resource in the shop. They check up on it at least a few times a month, do maintenance on it depending on a schedule provided, and post information up regarding new or important things about the tool.

Tool Manual: To find your tool manual, look on the PCMS Members google drive folder under Tool Manuals. If it doesn't exist yet, please find one and upload it!

Regular check-in: We'd like to see if you can plan a regular time each month to inspect and clean your tool. Is there a time this can happen? If you need to keep things flexible that is fine, but we still plan at least a week ahead to keep it organized.

Maintenance Log: When you check in on your tool, be sure to log it each time on our maintenance log posted on the door to the wood shop!

Learn your tool: If you need to learn more about the tool, I recommend reading the manual we have for it first. Looking for videos on how to use the tools is also good. WoodWorkWeb has a lot of good video tutorials on how to use equipment.

Let us know when you can get started! If you need any help feel free to ask me or a more experienced wood shop user.
