Vacuum Chamber

Description

Equipment that can create a vacuum-like environment. To do so, the vacuum pump draws the air from inside the vacuum chamber.

Applications

  • Stabilizing wood piece with cactus juice by drying it thoroughly, placing it in a container, submerging it in Cactus Juice resin within the vacuum chamber, and applying vacuum until bubbling ceases. This process turns soft, punky wood into hard, dense material by replacing air with resin.

Guides and Manuals

How to Use

  1. Setup
    1. Plug the vacuum pump into power
    2. Connect the vacuum pump to the vacuum chamber air outlet
    3. Sit the vacuum chamber lid on the vacuum chamber
    4. Close the air inlet valve
    5. Open the air outlet valve
  2. Drawing a Vacuum
    1. Turn on the vacuum pump
    2. Watch the pressure gauge
    3. Close the air outlet valve when the desired vacuum is achieved
    4. Turn off the vacuum pump
  3. Vacuum Release
    1. Open the air inlet valve

General Tips and Safety

  • Prevent Floating: Use a submersion plate or weight to ensure the wood stays under the resin.
  • Avoid Contamination: Do not get water in the resin, and avoid letting resin get into the vacuum pump.
  • Pump Maintenance: Change vacuum pump oil after a long, heavy cycle.
  • Coloring: You can add up to 4 ounces of dye per gallon of Cactus Juice.
